Greg Bellemare - Principal

I have been an educator for 38 years.   I was a teacher and principal in Maine for 28 years including the last 19 as an administrator. Phyllis, my wife, and I moved to Arizona and fell in love with it (particularly the warm weather). I was principal at Power Ranch in the Higley district for 2 years where we were an Excelling school.  We both moved into the Florence District where I was principal at Florence K-8 for 4 years. For the past 3 years we traveled abroad where I was a Preschool to 5th grade Principal in Guatemala as well as an Early Years to 5th grade Director in Nigeria. We returned to the good old USA and were fortunate enough to land in the Florence District again. I have focused on Student Learning for the past 20 years as my main goal as a principal. Decisions that I make for the school are always in the best interest of the child and are focused on student learning. My hope is that at San Tan Heights we develop a culture where kids learn well and love to be there.

Katherine Hall- Assistant Principal

I am excited to continue in my role as Assistant Principal for San Tan Heights! Since 2001, I’ve had the privilege of working in Arizona schools, helping students learn and succeed. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Arizona State University and was a special education teacher and department chair for six years with Mesa Public Schools. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Bilingual Multicultural Education with a full ESL endorsement. Prior to coming to San Tan Heights, I was a junior high school instructional coach for two years and then worked another three years as a district specialist supporting and coaching teachers new to the profession in grades PreK-8 at multiple schools. My teacher leader opportunities in Mesa and consulting jobs with the Arizona Department of Education prompted me to pursue administration and, in 2012, I graduated with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. I am confident that the San Tan Heights team can foster a thirst for learning in our students. Just watch: as the Hawks, we are Soaring to New Heights!

Henry Saylor-Scheetz- Assistant Principal

My background in education includes teaching junior high and high school math, Headmaster of a private school, and assistant principal at the high school level. In addition, I spent 15 seasons as a varsity high school football and track coach as well as head baseball and track coach at the junior high level.  As one of the Assistant Principal’s at San Tan Heights K-8 my main responsibility is working with the upper grade levels in curriculum, instruction, testing, and discipline.

I grew up in Washington and earned my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Washington State University. I completed my Master's degree in Teaching through Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, my administrative credentials through Lewis and Clark College also in Portland, and am currently working on my PhD in Industrial/Organizational psychology at Grand Canyon University.

In my time away from school I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing with friends, and travel. I have one son, Jeremy, who resides in California and is my golf partner at every opportunity.  My wife, Julie, trains, shows, and breeds French bulldogs.

I very much am looking forward to the 2016-17 school year and am proud to be part of our Hawk Nation.
